Bexley for Bruce

This is my first portrait of 2010!
My dear friend Bruce commissioned me to create a portrait of his dog, Bexley. I replicated a painting I had done back in 2002 that Bruce really enjoyed the style of. The painting is of my pup, Sasha whom passed away last November. I love this portrait because I painted it for a fund raiser when she had tore a ligament in her knee climbing a tree, no doubt. The oporation she needed was quite pricey, and I had to raise a lot of cash to stich her up. So I organised an art show consisting of twelve different artists who generously donated their artwork to help her. My friend Beth helped tremendously with getting a show at the Washington Street Art Center, and at Desil Cafe. I couldn't have done this without the help of everyone involved. The painting reminds me how amazing people can be when you need their help. We raised $3800 to pay for her hospital expenses!
The top on is portrait is Sasha (aka Beah), which is 36" by 24", acrylic on canvas. The middle, aclose up of that portrait. The bottom drawing is of Bexley and it's quite tiny, 4" by 6", colored pencil on paper. If you want to comission me to create a portrait for you, just ask me.... sjtegelaar@gmail.com... I would love to! I had a blast with this. I liked being challenged to create a style I had with a different medium. I would love to know what you think!
